Her construction boasts Airex core, sandwiched between layers of fiberglass, yielding a fantastic strength / weight formula. Designer's Comments

“The Ultimate 42 was designed to provide a fast, economical cruiser with all of the amenities expected in a vessel this size, while using engines half the size of those that would normally power this size vessel for the speeds attained.”

“This vessel is not a ‘trawler’. She is a coastal cruiser equally at home making fast, weekend commutes or long, coastal passages. Her full form is round bilged to provide minimum resistance. The entry portion of the bottom is deep and convexly curved to suppress impact in this area. A deep keel runs from the bow to a point three quarters of the way aft and provides excellent tracking in following seas necessary for efficient running. A wide hull step is provided just above the waterline running full length, bow to stern. The step has three functions: it acts as a stabilizing shelf dramatically increasing the vessel’s width as she heels; it acts as an effective spray rail to knock down the bow wash’ and it effectively widens the hull above the waterline, providing a great amount of increased interior volume. Main engines and generator placed in the extreme stern so that fuel and water tankage may be located in an area over the center of buoyancy of the vessel. By doing this, the vessel will not severely trim by bow or stern when tanks are full or empty and thus her seakeeping manners remain constant over the duration of a voyage.”

“Her styling is conservative with a conventional swept sheer, nicely raked bow, and great flair in the forward areas of the topsides. The superstructure is very low for a vessel of this size due to engine placement aft under the cockpit, thereby allowing the salon to be set lower in the hull. This, in turn, allows the flybridge to be closer to the waterline and plays a great part in providing a stable vessel, both at anchor and underway. The side decks are wide and the forward trunk is low, leading back to the main house which is light and airy due to the large amount of glass. The flybridge is full width, providing maximum space in the area allotted and an unusual cantilevered sunpad extends over the cockpit, providing protection to this area.”

Broker Comments

An excellent PNW Coastal cruiser. The current owners have cruised BC, the Gulf Islands, the San Juans and South Puget Sound for more than 20 years. The boat is configured as a 'couple's boat', with one formal stateroom (See Arrangement Diagram), allowing the remaining living areas to be generously proportioned. There is a queen sleeper sofa in the salon for occasional guests.

The Day Island Yacht Club boathouse (18'x47') is available for sale. It has been recently updated, with new doors, welded steel structural support and new flooring. There is a loft with ladder access, skylights, a ceiling hoist, full curtain, work bench and electrical supply. Monthly moorage is only $160 / mo. and electrical is an additional (approximate) $30 / mo. The boathouse is not available for lease or purchase separately, only in conjunction with the purchase of this BlueWater 42.
