When introduced in 1984, the Bayliner's 4550 Pilothouse Motoryacht was the queen of Bayliner's fleet and remained so throughout its 10-year production run. For reasons only Bayliner's marketing staff knows, the model name was changed to the 4588 following the 1988 model year. the 4550/4588 is a great looking boat with excellent accommodations for liveaboard or long-range cruising and an affordable price tag. The deck of the 4550/4588 is arranged with three separate exterior areas; the foredeck, flybridge and aft cockpit.
Entering from the swim step you will notice the 12v transom mounted Nick Jackson davit The aft cockpit is assessed thru a transom door on the starboard side, the cockpit is about four feet deep although it is over 13 feet wide and can easily accommodate several deck chairs for entertaining or fishing. The flybridge overhangs the cockpit so it could be enclosed if an owner wishes. a ladder on the port side provides access to the flybridge.
Entering thru the large teak and glass sliding door is the main saloon, extends the full width of the boat giving you a feeling of a much larger boat. seating is configured with an L shaped settee to the Port and two free standing chairs to the starboard.
Working your way forward is the galley to the port with all the conveniences of home - a Princess oven and cook top,GE microwave oven, Nova cool AC/DC upright refrigerator freezer, countertop blender, and even a trash compactor. To the starboard side there is a bar sink and a U-line ice maker.
Making your way forward up a few steps is the pilothouse. there is a settee to the port aft with a table and there are doors on both sides of the pilothouse providing easy access for handling lines. next to the settee there is a stairwell leading up to the flybridge, you don't find many 45' boats that offers interior access to the bridge.
The very comfortable accommodations are without a doubt one of the most attractive features the 4550/4588 Pilothouse Motoryacht has to offer, starting with the master stateroom forward. It features a center island double berth and is one of the largest most comfortable staterooms on a boat of this size. There are his and her hanging lockers, drawers beneath the bed and a large adjoining head complete with tub and shower. There is a single double bunk aft on the port side that can be closed off or opened up into the master.
Aft of the forward stateroom is a second port side stateroom with private entrance complete with a double berth. There is storage beneath the berth. Across the hallway is a second head with a stall shower.
